We are much more than just a voluntary sector running group, before and after the runs, we have warm ups and discussions around health and running needs, this helps with Social inclusion, disability members would like to get active in running, jogging or walking . Mental and physical health issues and we have formed great community friendships over time. This has increased residents’ sense of belonging to our local park and we have regularly been featured in the Newham mag.

We are always here to welcome you.  Come and join us.
Tessa Sanderson CBE
Olympic Gold medalist Javelin 1984

Tessa Sanderson, CBE, the 1984 Olympic javelin gold medallist is our mentor and inspiration and has worked with the Newham community and schools since 2007. Tessa regularly attends our sessions to encourage and motivate us and lead the warm ups. We also have the kind support of the City of London Corporation and park keepers.

Tessa Said “I love working with the group each Sunday morning.  We have become a close running group and friends. Becoming an Olympian and running fast times is not the main factor here. Equally so we have runners who are achieving good running targets they have set themselves. You may choose to run, jog or simply by walking around our circuit our run is open to all. It’s about helping to bring more awareness of family actively working together, finding new and fun friendship, and to explore being active with others to become more healthier, fitter, and for the future a better sense of belonging
